Description:
Telematics Control Unit Battery
The LR089861 Telematics Control Unit Battery is a genuine OEM-quality replacement battery designed specifically for the telematics control system used in selected Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles. This important electronic component supports the vehicles telematics and emergency communication systems by providing reliable backup power to the Telematics Control Unit (TCU). Engineered to meet original manufacturer specifications, the LR089861 battery ensures stable operation of onboard communication, tracking, navigation, emergency response, and connected vehicle functions.
Modern Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles are equipped with advanced telematics systems that integrate vehicle diagnostics, GPS tracking, emergency assistance, remote connectivity, security features, and communication technologies. The Telematics Control Unit acts as the central communication hub for these systems, and the LR089861 battery is responsible for maintaining uninterrupted power supply to the module, especially during low-voltage conditions or main battery interruptions.
Over time, the original telematics backup battery can degrade due to age, repeated charging cycles, heat exposure, or normal wear. When the battery weakens or fails, drivers may experience warning messages on the dashboard, telematics system malfunctions, SOS errors, navigation interruptions, connectivity issues, or battery drain warnings. Replacing the worn-out battery with the LR089861 OEM Telematics Control Unit Battery helps restore proper system operation and prevents communication-related faults.
This replacement battery is manufactured to deliver dependable voltage stability, long service life, and reliable performance under demanding automotive conditions. It is specifically engineered to integrate seamlessly with Land Rovers factory-installed telematics systems without requiring modifications. As an OEM-compatible component, it matches the original battery in size, connection type, electrical specifications, and operational performance.
The LR089861 battery is compatible with several popular Land Rover and Range Rover models, making it an ideal replacement solution for owners seeking reliable restoration of factory telematics functionality. Compatible vehicle applications include:
- Range Rover Evoque (20122018)
- Range Rover (2013 onwards)
- Range Rover Sport (2014 onwards)
- Discovery Sport (2015 onwards)
- Discovery 5 (2017 onwards)
- Range Rover Velar
These vehicles rely heavily on integrated electronic systems and advanced communication modules, making proper telematics battery performance essential for uninterrupted operation of connected services and emergency systems.
One of the major advantages of using the LR089861 OEM battery is guaranteed compatibility and dependable quality. Genuine OEM or OEM-grade components are designed to meet strict manufacturer standards for safety, durability, and performance. Unlike low-quality aftermarket alternatives, this battery is built to withstand automotive vibrations, temperature fluctuations, and continuous charging cycles commonly experienced in premium SUVs and luxury vehicles.
The battery also plays a critical role in maintaining the functionality of emergency communication systems. Many modern Land Rover and Range Rover models include SOS emergency call systems that rely on the telematics module for operation. A failing backup battery can trigger warning messages or disable certain communication functions. Installing a high-quality replacement battery helps ensure these systems remain operational when needed.
Another important benefit of replacing a faulty telematics battery is preventing unnecessary battery drain issues. In some cases, a deteriorating TCU battery may fail to charge properly or create parasitic electrical drain, affecting the vehicles primary battery performance. Replacing the defective unit can help stabilize the electrical system and improve overall battery management.
The LR089861 Telematics Control Unit Battery is suitable for both preventive maintenance and repair applications. Automotive technicians and Land Rover specialists often recommend replacing the telematics backup battery when warning messages appear or during electrical system servicing. Since modern luxury vehicles depend on complex electronic systems, timely replacement helps avoid larger communication and diagnostic issues in the future.
Installation should ideally be carried out by a qualified technician or experienced automotive electrician familiar with Land Rover electronic systems. Proper installation ensures correct module communication, battery calibration, and fault code clearing where necessary. Using diagnostic equipment after replacement may help reset warning messages and confirm proper system functionality.
This OEM telematics battery is especially beneficial for drivers who frequently use connected vehicle services such as GPS navigation, remote vehicle access, emergency assistance, and infotainment communication systems. By maintaining stable telematics performance, the battery contributes to a smoother and more reliable ownership experience.
