Stainless Steel or Delrin Choosing the Right Material for Your Hand

Stainless steel shift knobs are heavier than stock typically two to three times the mass of the factory plastic knob which adds momentum to each shift. A heavier knob resists being rushed, which naturally produces smoother, more deliberate shifts through the gate. Delrin is an engineering plastic with a consistent surface hardness that feels premium in the hand and doesn't transmit heat or cold the way stainless does on a cold morning or after a hot track session, a Delrin knob is more comfortable to grab than bare metal. GrimmSpeed offers both in the same short-throw-compatible M12x1.25 thread spec.

Founded by engineers who were actively building and racing Subarus themselves, GrimmSpeed's catalog reflects the priorities of people who use the products they make turbo inlets, downpipes, uppipes, boost controllers, intercoolers, and engine bay accessories designed specifically for the EJ and FA-series Subaru platforms. Every GrimmSpeed product is engineered, tested, and refined in-house, and their focus on Subaru means the fitment and function reflect a deep understanding of the specific platforms they cover.
