GrimmSpeed Master Cylinder Brace – Subaru Models (inc. 2002-2007 WRX/STi)

Description:

Firmer Pedal, Less Flex The GrimmSpeed Master Cylinder Brace for the Legacy/Forester

The GrimmSpeed Master Cylinder Brace for the 1994-1999 Subaru Legacy / 2003-2008 Subaru Forester adds a brace between the brake master cylinder and the firewall or adjacent chassis structure, reducing the flex that the master cylinder experiences under hard braking. On stock Subaru platforms, the master cylinder mounting allows a small amount of movement under high brake pedal loads this flex translates to a soft or inconsistent pedal feel that diminishes braking confidence, particularly during track use or aggressive street driving. The GrimmSpeed brace eliminates that flex at the source.

Why Master Cylinder Flex Affects Pedal Feel

The brake pedal feel on the Legacy/Forester is influenced by more than just brake fluid compressibility. The master cylinder itself can flex slightly relative to the firewall under high pedal loads this movement is absorbed as lost pedal travel before pressure builds in the hydraulic circuit. The GrimmSpeed brace adds a rigid connection that prevents this movement, so pedal force translates directly to hydraulic pressure rather than partially into chassis flex. The result is a firmer, more consistent pedal feel throughout the braking range.

Bolt-In Installation No Modification to Master Cylinder or Firewall

The GrimmSpeed master cylinder brace bolts to existing mounting points in the Legacy/Forester engine bay no drilling, no modification to the master cylinder, brake lines, or firewall. Installation is accessible from the engine bay and requires only basic hand tools. The brace is finished to resist corrosion in the engine bay environment.

Straight From Subispeed

The GrimmSpeed master cylinder brace is the brake upgrade that most Legacy/Forester owners don't know they need until they drive with one installed. The pedal improvement isn't dramatic it's a firmer, more consistent feel under hard application but once you've experienced it, the stock flex is immediately noticeable when you remove it. For any Legacy/Forester used on track or driven hard on the street, this is a correct and inexpensive upgrade.

About GrimmSpeed

GrimmSpeed is a Pacific Northwest-based performance parts manufacturer that has been building Subaru-specific hardware since 2003. Founded by engineers who were actively building and racing Subarus themselves, GrimmSpeed's catalog reflects the priorities of people who use the products they make turbo inlets, downpipes, uppipes, boost controllers, intercoolers, and engine bay accessories designed specifically for the EJ and FA-series Subaru platforms. Every GrimmSpeed product is engineered, tested, and refined in-house, and their focus on Subaru means the fitment and function reflect a deep understanding of the specific platforms they cover. Subispeed carries the full GrimmSpeed catalog because their approach to product development consistently produces parts that perform as advertised and fit correctly out of the box.
