Understanding Enhanced Flooded Batteries (EFB) and Their Advantages

EFB batteries are an advanced version of traditional lead-acid batteries, engineered to support Start/Stop vehicles. They offer:

• Improved Charge Acceptance: Absorbs energy faster, especially from regenerative braking.
• Extended Cycle Life: Can endure twice the number of charge/discharge cycles compared to regular batteries.
• Better Resistance to Deep Discharges: Ensures reliability even under heavy electrical demands.

How Start/Stop Technology Works and Why a Specialized Battery is Required

Start/Stop systems automatically turn off the engine when the vehicle is stationary (e.g., at traffic lights) and restart it when the driver releases the brake or presses the accelerator.

Why Regular Batteries Arent Enough?

1. Frequent Engine Restarts:

   • Conventional batteries wear out quickly due to frequent starting cycles.

2. High Energy Demands:

   • Modern cars use infotainment, sensors, navigation, and climate control even when the engine is off.

3. Regenerative Braking Compatibility:

   • Some vehicles with regenerative braking require quick charge acceptance, which standard batteries lack.

The Globatt Q85L EFB is designed to handle these demands efficiently.

Benefits of Using the Globatt Q85L EFB Battery

1. Reliable Power for Start/Stop Vehicles

   • Supports continuous engine restarts without compromising performance.

2. Longer Battery Life

   • Lasts twice as long as conventional lead-acid batteries.

3. Lower Fuel Consumption & Reduced CO Emissions

   • Improves vehicle fuel efficiency by optimizing Start/Stop functionality.

4. Resistant to High-Temperature Damage

   • Engineered to withstand heat stress, extending its lifespan.

5. Maintenance-Free Operation

   • No need for regular electrolyte refills.

6. Handles High Electrical Load

   • Supports advanced vehicle electronics, safety systems, and entertainment units.

7. Fast Charging and Deep Discharge Recovery

   • Quickly recharges and recovers from deep discharges, ensuring reliability.

Proper Maintenance and Charging Guidelines

To extend the life of your Globatt Q85L EFB battery, follow these tips:

1. Regular Battery Inspections

• Check for loose terminals and ensure a secure connection.
• Clean any corrosion on the battery terminals.

2. Avoid Full Discharges

• Try to keep the batterys charge level above 50%.

3. Drive Regularly

• Start/Stop batteries need regular charging. If unused for long, use a smart charger.

4. Ensure the Charging System is Working Properly

• Have your alternator checked periodically to avoid overcharging or undercharging.

5. Protect the Battery from Extreme Temperatures

• Avoid prolonged exposure to high heat or freezing conditions.

Signs of Battery Wear and When to Replace

Even high-quality EFB batteries like the Globatt Q85L will eventually need replacement. Watch for these warning signs:

1. Engine Struggles to Restart If your car hesitates to start, the battery might be losing capacity.
2. Dashboard Battery Warning Light Indicates charging system issues.
3. Dim Lights and Electrical Failures A weakening battery results in flickering lights and malfunctioning electronics.
4. Reduced Start/Stop Functionality If Start/Stop stops working, the battery may be underperforming.
5. Battery Age (3-5 Years) If your battery is over 3 years old, its time for a check-up.
