Description:
There are many variables to consider when participating in a track or autocross event. One of the most important aspects is your braking system and the stopping power available at any given time. Proper braking is crucial for safety and performance. Aggressive driving generates significant heat in your braking system due to frequent and intense use. Problems arise when that heat transfers into your brake calipers, causing them to overheat. When this happens, the fluid inside your calipers can reach its maximum temperature and start to boil. This boiling fluid can lead to brake fade, reducing the effectiveness of your braking system and potentially creating dangerous situations on the track.
One solution is to place a thermal barrier between the back of the pad and the caliper piston, which slows the transfer of heat into the caliper and fluid. FactionFab Titanium Brake Shims do just that. Available for a wide range of Subaru applications, FactionFab Brake Shims are an easy way to protect against fading brakes and potential brake failure. Titanium has very low heat conductivity compared to steel, and placing a thin 1.0mm piece of titanium between the two surfaces insulates and dissipates heat faster than steel shims. This simple mod increases your brake performance while qualifying for almost all *SCCA and *NASA classes. If you want more hot laps on your track sessions while extending brake pad life,FactionFab Titanium Brake Shims are exactly what you need.*Check official SCCA and NASArules
QUICK SPECS:
- 4 Shims included in each kit
- Made of 6AL-4V / Grade 5 Titanium, which has very low heat conductivity compared to steel.
- Shims are 1.0mm thick (better insulation compared to the 0.5mm thick competitors)
- Acts as a thermal barrier to reduce heat transfer from the brake pad to the caliper piston.
- Helps prevent brake fade and potential brake failure, extending brake pad life and improving performance on the track.
FITMENT:
Our Brake Pad Shims will fit many models with FMSI D961Pads, including:
- 2004-2017 Subaru STI
