Description:

Exedy Lightweight Flywheel, 2003-2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII/IX

The Exedy Lightweight Flywheel for the 2003-2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII and IX is a chromoly steel flywheel engineered for the 4G63T platform. The reduced mass improves throttle response and complements the Evo 8/9's performance character, the natural companion to Exedy clutch kit installation.

DETAILS

• Material: chromoly steel
• Lighter than OEM cast iron
• Improved throttle response on 4G63T
• Engineered for Evo 8/9 5-speed application
• Designed for use with Exedy clutch kit range

The 4G63T Evo 8/9 is a platform that rewards mechanical improvements throughout the drivetrain. The factory flywheel is a heavy cast iron unit appropriate for OEM service life requirements, replacing it with the Exedy chromoly unit reduces rotating inertia and improves the engine's ability to accelerate through the RPM range.

The Evo 8 and 9 are driven aggressively, track days, canyon runs, and spirited street use are normal for these cars. The lightweight flywheel provides improved response in exactly these driving conditions, where the engine is repeatedly asked to accelerate from corner exit to the next braking zone.

Why Choose Exedy

Exedy is the world's largest clutch manufacturer and the OEM supplier to more than six major vehicle manufacturers globally, including Toyota, Honda, Subaru, and Mitsubishi. Every Exedy performance clutch is designed and manufactured as a purpose-built performance component, not a modified OEM part, not a remanufactured unit, but an engineered system built specifically for performance use from the ground up. Exedy's research and development happens on actual race programs alongside their road car product development, meaning the technology that wins championships filters directly into the street performance catalog. When you install an Exedy clutch, you are installing a product from the company that builds the OEM clutch for the car it is replacing.

The RallySport Take

The Exedy lightweight flywheel for the Evo 8/9 is the correct flywheel upgrade for this platform at clutch replacement time. Fits the 2003-2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII and IX with 4G63T.
