EBC Yellowstuff Rear Brake Pads – 2018-2021 Subaru STI

Description:

EBC Yellowstuff High-Performance Street Brake Pads

EBC Yellowstuff is one of the worlds best-selling performance brake pad compounds an aramid fiber-based friction material engineered for drivers who demand serious stopping power from their street or spirited driving setup. Unlike many performance pads that require substantial heat before they perform, Yellowstuff delivers strong bite from a cold start while continuing to improve as temperatures rise. Updated in 2021 to remove copper from the compound in compliance with environmental regulations, the reformulated blend is not only cleaner but also longer-lasting than previous versions. EBC Yellowstuff is fully ECE R90 approved, meaning it meets strict European brake safety standards and is certified for street use worldwide.

EBC Yellowstuff Key Features & Specs

• Aramid Fiber Compound: The core friction material uses high-strength aramid fibers, the same material found in bulletproof vests, providing excellent durability and thermal stability under repeated heavy braking.
• High Cold Bite: Engineered to produce strong braking force immediately from cold no warm-up laps or heat cycles required for street driving, making it practical for everyday use.
• Friction Rating: Average friction coefficient of approximately 0.5, representing a full FMVSS friction grade higher than most OEM pads, delivering noticeably stronger pedal feel right out of the box.
• Heat Threshold: Rated to a green fade threshold of approximately 400C (750F) ideal for aggressive street driving and occasional spirited canyon runs. For sustained track use where temperatures can exceed 500600C, EBC recommends their Bluestuff or RP/SR race series instead.
• Zero Brake Fade (Street Range): Within its operating temperature range, Yellowstuff resists brake fade under repeated hard stops, maintaining consistent pedal feel and bite.
• Rotor Friendly: Despite being a high-friction compound, Yellowstuff is formulated to be gentle on rotors, reducing the risk of scoring or accelerated rotor wear compared to harder race compounds.
• Copper-Free Formula (2021+): Updated compound meets modern environmental standards while delivering improved longevity over the original blend.
• ECE R90 Certified: Street legal for all markets globally, including European countries where regulation 90 compliance is mandatory.
• Not a Low-Dust Pad: Yellowstuff will generate more brake dust than stock or EBC Redstuff pads. If minimal dust is a priority, consider EBC Redstuff for pure street use.
• Bedding-In: EBC recommends a proper bed-in procedure approximately 100200 miles of normal street driving before aggressive use. Some units come pre-bedded (surface-scorched) from the factory to speed up the break-in process.

The RallySport Take

If you drive a performance car and want a meaningful upgrade from stock pads without going full race-spec, EBC Yellowstuff is a proven choice. Theyre aggressive enough to make a real difference on the street noticeably stronger bite, better pedal feel, and confidence under hard braking while still being completely livable day-to-day. Just know going in that theyre not a low-dust pad, so your wheels will get dirtier. For most of our customers running WRXs, STIs, Civic Type-Rs, or other enthusiast platforms on the street and the occasional canyon run, Yellowstuff hits the sweet spot between performance and practicality. If youre going to dedicated track days regularly, step up to EBC Bluestuff but for everything else, Yellow is hard to beat at this price point.
