COBB Tuning Turbo Heatshield – 2002-2007 Subaru WRX / 2004-2021 STI / 2004-2008 Forester XT

Description:

Cobb Turbo Heatshield 2002-2007 Subaru WRX / 2004-2021 STI / 2005-2009 Legacy GT

The Cobb Turbo Heatshield for the 2002-2007 Subaru WRX and related platforms is an aluminum heat shield that mounts between the turbocharger and the surrounding engine bay components to deflect radiated heat away from temperature-sensitive areas. Where a turbo blanket wraps around the turbocharger, the heatshield provides a directional barrier that protects specific nearby components intake tubes, charge pipes, and wiring harnesses from the direct radiant heat of the turbine housing.

DETAILS

• Platform: 2002-2007 Subaru WRX, 2004-2021 Subaru WRX STI, 2005-2009 Subaru Legacy GT
• Aluminum heat shield deflects radiated heat away from nearby components
• Protects intake tubes, charge pipes, and wiring from turbine housing heat
• Direct replacement at factory heatshield location
• All mounting hardware included

Heatshield vs Turbo Blanket: Directional Heat Deflection

The factory turbo heatshield on EJ-series Subaru applications is a relatively thin stamped steel component that provides some heat deflection but is not optimized for maximum protection. The Cobb heatshield uses aluminum construction with better coverage geometry to more effectively deflect radiated heat from the turbine housing away from the critical nearby components. The improved coverage is particularly meaningful for builds where intake plumbing or charge pipes run in close proximity to the turbine housing.

Aluminum Construction, Coverage Geometry, and Installation

The heatshield installs at the factory mounting location using the factory fastener points a direct replacement that requires no modification to the surrounding components. On EJ-series Subaru applications, the turbocharger is positioned tightly within the engine bay with several temperature-sensitive components in close proximity; the improved heatshield geometry reduces the thermal exposure of these nearby components during sustained high-boost driving.

Why Choose Cobb Tuning

Cobb Tuning has been developing performance software and hardware for turbocharged enthusiast vehicles since 1999. Founded in Austin, Texas, Cobb built its reputation on the Accessport and expanded into a full catalog of hardware engineered to complement it. Every OTS map is developed in-house on real vehicles, and every hardware product is validated as part of a complete system not sourced and sold in isolation. That integrated approach is why Cobb produces consistent, reliable results across the builds we see every day.

The RallySport Take

The Cobb Turbo Heatshield for the 2002-2007 Subaru WRX is the correct heat management upgrade for EJ-series builds where nearby intake and charge air components are exposed to turbine housing heat. Works in combination with a turbo blanket for comprehensive thermal management at the turbocharger.
