COBB Tuning Front Mount Intercooler – 2010-2013 Mazda Speed 3

Description:

Cobb Front Mount Intercooler Black 2010-2013 Mazdaspeed3

The Cobb Front Mount Intercooler for the 2010-2013 Mazdaspeed3 in black provides front-mount charge air cooling for the second-generation MZR DISI 2.3T platform. The FMIC moves charge cooling to the front bumper opening where ambient airflow provides dramatically lower and more consistent charge air temperatures than the factory intercooler location.

DETAILS

• Cobb FMIC black finish
• Platform: 2010-2013 Mazda Mazdaspeed3 MZR DISI 2.3T MT
• Bar-and-plate core construction for efficient charge cooling
• Front mount position: dramatically lower charge temps vs factory intercooler
• Designed for use with Cobb Accessport Mazdaspeed3 Stage 2 OTS maps
• Pipe kit and hardware included

Front Mount Intercooler on the MZR DISI 2.3T Platform

The Cobb front mount intercooler moves charge air cooling from the factory top mount position where the TMIC sits in the engine bay heat zone to the front bumper opening where ambient airflow provides consistent, efficient cooling. A cooler charge air temperature means denser air: more oxygen per unit volume, which allows the Accessport to target higher boost and more aggressive ignition timing without exceeding safe charge temperatures. The bar-and-plate core construction provides maximum fin surface area per unit volume for efficient cooling within the limited space of the front bumper opening more efficient at a given core size than tube-and-fin designs.

Mazdaspeed3 Pipe Kit and Accessport Stage 2 Maps

The FMIC pipe kit is engineered specifically for the chassis it is designed for every bend, diameter, and routing length is correct for the installation without modification. The visual presence of the intercooler core through the front bumper opening is intentional: the silver or black finish is visible through the grille and reflects the cooling capacity working behind it. Requires a Cobb Accessport with the appropriate FMIC OTS maps; the Stage 2 calibrations are developed for the FMIC's specific cooling capacity and must be used for correct and safe operation at Stage 2 boost targets.

What's in the Box

Why Choose Cobb Tuning

Cobb Tuning has been developing performance software and hardware for turbocharged enthusiast vehicles since 1999. Founded in Austin, Texas, Cobb built its reputation on the Accessport and expanded into a full catalog of hardware engineered to complement it. Every OTS map is developed in-house on real vehicles, and every hardware product is validated as part of a complete system not sourced and sold in isolation. That integrated approach is why Cobb produces consistent, reliable results across the builds we see every day.

The RallySport Take

The Cobb FMIC for the 2010-2013 Mazdaspeed3 enables Stage 2 calibration on the MZR DISI 2.3T by providing front-mount charge cooling that the factory intercooler location cannot match. The Accessport Stage 2 maps for the Mazdaspeed3 are calibrated for the FMIC's cooling capacity install the FMIC, load the Stage 2 map, and the system operates at Stage 2 targets.
