Accessport V3 Specifications

K20C1 Calibration: Type R-Specific Development

The K20C1 in the FK8 Type R is Honda's most powerful production turbocharged four-cylinder, developed specifically for a car built around driver engagement and lap times. Honda's factory calibration is conservative by the standards of a high-performance turbocharged sports car the K20C1 carries margin for market fuel quality, altitude variation, and the full range of ambient conditions a globally sold vehicle must operate in. On quality 93-octane fuel in the conditions North American owners actually use, Cobb's OTS maps for the FK8 advance ignition timing, optimize the boost curve through the K20C1's operating range, and tighten fueling to what the direct injection system can precisely deliver. The result is an engine that responds more immediately throughout the rev range from the bottom of the powerband where the K20C1 starts building boost, through the mid-range where the turbo is fully spooled, to the top of the rev range where the naturally high-revving Honda character comes through. The 2020-2021 FK8 added Honda's updated ECU security measures that require the Unlock Box included in this kit it connects between the Accessport and OBD-II port for the initial flash procedure and is included regardless of which FK8 year is being tuned.

Track-Day Gauge Monitoring and Data Logging on the FK8

The Accessport's live gauge display is particularly well-suited to track use in the FK8 monitoring boost, AFR, and intake air temperature on a track day gives immediate feedback on engine behavior that the factory instrument cluster does not provide. Data logging captures all engine parameters at high speed for review after each session, giving the driver or a ProTuner a complete picture of every run. The logging data is essential for custom calibration development on FK8 builds with intake or exhaust modifications, where the K20C1's behavior under load needs to be precisely characterized before calibration changes are made. The Accessport also reads and clears Honda-specific OBD-II codes alongside standard codes, serving as a diagnostic tool as well as a tuning interface.

Why Choose Cobb Tuning

Cobb Tuning has been developing performance software and hardware for turbocharged enthusiast vehicles since 1999. Founded in Austin, Texas, Cobb built its reputation on the Accessport and expanded into a full catalog of hardware engineered to complement it. Every OTS map is developed in-house on real vehicles, and every hardware product is validated as part of a complete system not sourced and sold in isolation. That integrated approach is why Cobb produces consistent, reliable results across the builds we see every day.

The RallySport Take

The Cobb Accessport V3 for the FK8 Type R is for Honda enthusiasts who take their K20C1 seriously. The Type R is Honda's engineering flagship in the Civic range, and its K20C1 responds to quality calibration with improved response and delivery across the entire rev range characteristics that complement the FK8's exceptional chassis dynamics. The Unlock Box is included for full 2017-2021 coverage, so owners of any FK8 generation have everything they need.
