Description:
Cobb 3-Port Boost Control Solenoid 2008-2015 Mitsubishi Evo X / Lancer
The Cobb 3-Port Boost Control Solenoid for the 2008-2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X and related platforms is a direct-fit upgrade over the factory 2-port boost control solenoid. The three-port design gives the Accessport ECU map greater authority and precision over wastegate actuator pressure control, enabling the tighter boost management that Stage 2 and NexGen Stage 2 calibrations require.
DETAILS

3-Port vs 2-Port: Why the Third Port Changes Boost Control Authority
The Cobb 3-Port Boost Control Solenoid is an electronic solenoid valve that manages the pressure signal to the turbocharger's wastegate actuator. The factory boost control solenoid operates at a fixed frequency and duty cycle range that limits how precisely and how aggressively the Accessport ECU map can control boost pressure particularly at higher boost targets where the factory solenoid's response time and maximum duty cycle become constraining. The Cobb 3-Port design adds a third port compared to the factory 2-port unit, allowing the solenoid to both bleed and apply pressure to the wastegate actuator rather than only bleeding it. This three-port arrangement gives the Accessport significantly greater authority over boost control the map can command more aggressive boost ramp, tighter boost targets, and better overshoot management because the solenoid responds more precisely to ECU commands.
Accessport Integration, Map Compatibility, and Installation
The 3-Port Boost Control Solenoid installs in the factory solenoid location using the factory wiring connector and vacuum line fittings no wiring modification is required. The Accessport recognizes the solenoid through its connection to the existing boost control circuit. After installation, the solenoid must be configured correctly in the Accessport map; Cobb's OTS maps for Stage 2 and NexGen Stage 2 configurations are calibrated for the 3-Port solenoid's improved response characteristics. The hardware kit with replacement fittings and vacuum lines is available separately for builds where the original vacuum line routing requires refreshing.

Why Choose Cobb Tuning
Cobb Tuning has been developing performance software and hardware for turbocharged enthusiast vehicles since 1999. Founded in Austin, Texas, Cobb built its reputation on the Accessport and expanded into a full catalog of hardware engineered to complement it. Every OTS map is developed in-house on real vehicles, and every hardware product is validated as part of a complete system not sourced and sold in isolation. That integrated approach is why Cobb produces consistent, reliable results across the builds we see every day.
The RallySport Take
The Cobb 3-Port Boost Control Solenoid is the boost management component that separates Stage 1 boost control from Stage 2 precision. At Stage 1 boost levels the factory 2-port solenoid is adequate but as boost targets increase with Stage 2 and NexGen Stage 2 calibrations, the factory solenoid's limited authority over wastegate pressure creates inconsistency in boost delivery, overshoot at boost peak, and an inability to hold tight boost targets across the rev range. The 3-Port solenoid is the hardware solution to these limitations, and it is the boost control component that the Cobb NexGen Stage 2 system is designed around on the 2008-2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X platform.
