Cobb Stage 1 Power Package – 2022-2026 Subaru WRX

Description:

Cobb Stage 1 Power Package 2022-2026 Subaru WRX

The Cobb Stage 1 Power Package for the 2022-2026 Subaru WRX combines the Cobb Accessport V3 with a high-flow drop-in air filter the two modifications that produce the highest return on the FA24WGT platform without touching any boost, charge air, or fuel delivery hardware. The Accessport V3 flashes Cobb's OTS calibration directly to the factory ECU over the OBD-II port, and the high-flow filter replaces the restrictive factory paper filter element in the stock airbox. Together they transform the character of a stock VB WRX in ways that are immediately noticeable from the first drive.

What Stage 1 Actually Changes and Why It Works

Stage 1 is defined as the calibration and airflow modifications that work within the factory boost, intercooler, and fuel delivery hardware the Accessport OTS map is calibrated for stock hardware and does not push any factory component beyond its design limits. What it does address is the conservatism built into the factory calibration: the safety margin Subaru maintains in ignition timing advance, boost targets, and fueling strategy for varying fuel quality, altitude, and ambient temperature across all global markets. On a specific car running quality 91 or 93 octane fuel in typical North American conditions, that margin is available to reclaim. The OTS map does exactly that advancing timing to what the FA24WGT can reliably support on quality fuel, sharpening the boost ramp to what the stock turbocharger can produce, and tightening fueling to what the direct injection system can precisely deliver. The improvement shows in throttle response from the first tip-in, in how confidently the boost builds through the mid-range, and in how the car pulls through the top of the rev range.

High-Flow Filter, Accessport Gauges, and Building the Foundation

The high-flow drop-in filter is the correct intake companion at Stage 1. It replaces the OEM paper filter element with a higher-flow unit that improves airflow to the FA24WGT's turbocharger inlet while maintaining the factory cold-air path and MAF sensor position. No intake plumbing changes are required the filter drops into the factory airbox, preserving the stock routing that draws cold air from outside the engine bay. Cobb validates the OTS map with the drop-in filter's airflow characteristics accounted for the calibration is not a stock-intake map with a filter change bolted on, but a map developed for this specific Stage 1 configuration. The Accessport's in-vehicle gauge display shows live boost, AFR, intake air temperature, and other parameters that the factory WRX instrument cluster never provides, keeping critical engine data in the driver's sightline.

Why Choose Cobb Tuning

Cobb Tuning has been developing performance software and hardware for turbocharged enthusiast vehicles since 1999. Founded in Austin, Texas, Cobb built its reputation on the Accessport and expanded into a full catalog of hardware engineered to complement it. Every OTS map is developed in-house on real vehicles, and every hardware product is validated as part of a complete system not sourced and sold in isolation. That integrated approach is why Cobb produces consistent, reliable results across the builds we see every day.

The RallySport Take

Every other modification made to the VB WRX after Stage 1 depends on the Accessport to produce its full result. An intake system without a tune to recalibrate for its improved airflow contributes a fraction of its potential. An intercooler without a map that uses the lower charge air temperatures delivers modest gains at best. The Stage 1 Power Package establishes both the calibration foundation and the intake airflow baseline that the entire WRX build is built on. For owners starting a performance build or who want to make the most impactful single change to an otherwise stock WRX, this is the package.
