The HDSS is ACT's most popular street clutch. Engineered for modified daily-driven builds more clamp load than OEM, smooth organic disc engagement, designed to hold real power without changing how the car drives.

DETAILS

• Pressure plate: ACT Heavy Duty
• Clutch disc: Performance Street Sprung
• Clamp load: Heavy Duty clamp load, significantly more than OEM
• Engagement: smooth, daily-driver engagement with more strength than OEM
• Use case: street-modified builds, daily-driven performance cars

ACT pressure plates use precision cover stampings and four-stage heat-treated diaphragms. The ACT Heavy Duty pressure plate's diaphragm geometry is calibrated to deliver Heavy Duty clamp load, significantly more than OEM without unnecessary pedal weight increase. Chrome-moly hubs on all ACT discs are heat-treated for strength and long-term durability under repeated heat cycling.

This kit is application-specific to 2003-2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 and 9. ACT engineers each clutch kit for the correct disc diameter, pressure plate sizing, and disc specification for the application. Installing a correctly specced ACT kit means the geometry and spring rates are correct, not adapted from a universal or shared-platform design.

Why Choose ACT

Advanced Clutch Technology has been manufacturing performance clutch systems in the United States since 1993. Every ACT pressure plate uses a proprietary diaphragm design that increases clamp load and reduces deflection compared to OEM units, and every diaphragm goes through a four-stage heat-treating process before it leaves the factory. The result is a clutch system that holds more power than the stock unit, engages more precisely, and lasts longer under the kind of driving that wears factory clutches out quickly. ACT designs each application from scratch rather than modifying OEM tooling, which means the fitment is precise and the performance is intentional. Whether the build is a street-driven daily driver or a dedicated track car, ACT offers a kit at the correct specification for the use.

The RallySport Take

The ACT Heavy Duty Performance Street Sprung is the clutch we recommend for most modified street builds. It is the best-selling ACT clutch for a reason the Heavy Duty pressure plate delivers more clamp load than the factory unit to handle the power increase, and the Performance Street organic disc maintains the smooth, progressive engagement feel that makes a car pleasant to drive every day. Organic disc friction material transfers heat better than OEM, the steel-backed lining improves burst strength, and reduced marcel means faster engagement without the abruptness of a race disc. If the factory clutch is slipping on a modified car, this kit solves the problem without asking you to change how you drive. Fits Mitsubishi applications 2003-2006.
