Stage 2: Reverse Lockout Adds to Stage 1 Foundation

The Stage 1+ Drivetrain Package for the Subaru STI 6-speed manual transmission combines three components that address the three main sources of imprecision in the factory shifting feel. The Cobb short throw shifter replaces the factory shift lever with a double-adjustable unit that provides a 15% or 35% reduction in throw length the shift gates are shorter and gear selection requires less arm movement. The front and rear shifter bushings replace the factory rubber bushings with tighter-tolerance units that eliminate the slop and vagueness in the shifter's lateral motion. The shift plate installs at the base of the shifter and provides the adjustable geometry that works together with the bushings to produce a shift action that is both shorter and more precise.

White / Black Lockout Color and Interior Theme Matching

The Stage 2+ Drivetrain Package adds a Reverse Lockout Pull Ring to the Stage 1+ components. The reverse lockout is a lift-to-unlock mechanism that must be engaged before the transmission will accept reverse gear selection, preventing accidental reverse engagement during aggressive forward-gear shifting. The Cobb reverse lockout pull ring comes in a range of colors to complement the shift knob, and the specific color in this listing is identified in the title and Details section.Every Cobb Drivetrain Package is defined by the specific color combination of its shift knob and, on Stage 2+ packages, its reverse lockout pull ring. The knob and lockout colors are the distinguishing factor between variants of the same package all other components (short throw shifter, bushings) are identical across color variants. The specific combination in this listing is called out clearly in the product title and the Details section. Select the combination that matches the interior color scheme of the build.

The RallySport Take

The Stage 2 package with White / Black lockout suits STI builds with a black and white interior color theme STI sport seats with black bolsters and white inserts, or an overall monochromatic interior scheme. The White and Black combination is one of the cleaner, more understated lockout options in the Cobb range and pairs well with both white and black shift knobs.
