Cobb Tuning SF Air Intake Box – Subaru Models (inc. WRX 2002 – 2007)

Description:

Cobb SF Intake Air Box 2002-2007 Subaru WRX / STI

The Cobb SF Intake + Airbox for the 2002-2007 Subaru WRX replaces the factory intake assembly with a performance SF intake and an enclosed airbox that draws cold air from outside the engine bay heat zone. The SF intake improves airflow to the platform's turbocharger and is designed for use with the Cobb Accessport SF intake OTS maps.

DETAILS

• Cobb SF Intake + Airbox
• Platform: 2002-2007 Subaru WRX
• Enclosed SF Airbox: cold-air path draws from outside engine bay heat zone
• Polished aluminum tube smooth airflow path to turbocharger inlet
• MAF sensor retained for accurate air mass measurement
• Designed for use with Cobb Accessport SF intake OTS maps
• All hardware and couplers included

Design and Construction

The Cobb SF Intake System replaces the factory air intake assembly with a purpose-designed short-ram intake built around a high-flow cone filter element and a smooth polished aluminum intake tube. The factory intake uses a panel filter that limits airflow, a plastic airbox that absorbs engine bay heat, and an intake tube with restrictive geometry. The SF intake addresses all of these: the cone filter has significantly more surface area than the OEM panel filter for improved airflow capacity; the aluminum tube runs a smoother, straighter path to the turbocharger inlet; and the MAF sensor is positioned in the SF intake tube for accurate air mass measurement.

Performance and Installation

The SF Intake is designed to work with a Cobb Accessport OTS map calibrated specifically for the SF intake configuration the calibration accounts for the improved airflow characteristics, MAF position in the new tube, and the change in intake air temperature behavior. Installing the SF intake with the correct Accessport SF intake map produces a validated system where hardware and calibration work together, and the full improvement in throttle response and power delivery is realized from the first drive.

Why Choose Cobb Tuning

Cobb Tuning has been developing performance software and hardware for turbocharged enthusiast vehicles since 1999. Founded in Austin, Texas, Cobb built its reputation on the Accessport and expanded into a full catalog of hardware engineered to complement it. Every OTS map is developed in-house on real vehicles, and every hardware product is validated as part of a complete system not sourced and sold in isolation. That integrated approach is why Cobb produces consistent, reliable results across the builds we see every day.

The RallySport Take

The Cobb SF+ Airbox Intake for the 2002-2007 Subaru WRX is the correct intake upgrade for Accessport-equipped builds on this platform. The SF intake OTS maps loaded on the Accessport are calibrated for this system install the intake, load the map, and the system is validated from the first drive.
