Description:

Cobb Top Mount Intercooler Kit Black 2015-2021 Subaru WRX

The Cobb Top Mount Intercooler Kit for the 2015-2021 Subaru WRX in black upgrades the factory TMIC with a larger Cobb unit that provides improved charge air cooling capacity within the stock intercooler position. The kit includes the TMIC core and the charge pipe kit needed for a complete installation.

DETAILS

• Complete TMIC Kit: black core + charge pipe kit
• Platform: 2015-2021 Subaru WRX FA20DIT MT
• TMIC core: black finish, larger than factory for improved charge cooling
• Charge pipe kit included for complete installation
• Designed for Cobb Accessport TMIC OTS maps
• Maintains factory TMIC mounting no bumper modification

TMIC Upgrade: Larger Core in the Factory Position

Cobb's top mount intercooler upgrade replaces the factory TMIC with a unit that provides a larger core volume for improved charge air cooling within the top mount space. The factory TMIC is sized conservatively adequate for stock boost levels but increasingly limiting as boost targets increase through tuning. The Cobb TMIC upgrade's larger core provides more cooling capacity, enabling more aggressive calibration targets and better sustained performance during repeated hard runs where the factory TMIC becomes heat-soaked.

Charge Pipe Kit and Accessport TMIC Map Compatibility

The Cobb TMIC is designed to work with the Cobb Accessport and the corresponding TMIC OTS maps that account for the upgraded intercooler's improved cooling capacity. The physical dimensions of the Cobb TMIC are matched to the factory location it uses the same mounting points and hood scoop interface as the factory unit. The charge pipe included with the TMIC kit connects the intercooler outlet to the intake manifold with the correct routing for this platform. For builds that eventually want to move to a full front mount intercooler, the TMIC upgrade is an intermediate step that provides improved charge cooling in the stock intercooler position.

Why Choose Cobb Tuning

Cobb Tuning has been developing performance software and hardware for turbocharged enthusiast vehicles since 1999. Founded in Austin, Texas, Cobb built its reputation on the Accessport and expanded into a full catalog of hardware engineered to complement it. Every OTS map is developed in-house on real vehicles, and every hardware product is validated as part of a complete system not sourced and sold in isolation. That integrated approach is why Cobb produces consistent, reliable results across the builds we see every day.

The RallySport Take

The Cobb TMIC upgrade for the 2015-2021 WRX is the correct intercooler upgrade for builds that want improved charge cooling while retaining the factory top mount configuration. The black core is visible through the hood scoop opening. For builds that eventually move to the NexGen Stage 2 FMIC, the TMIC upgrade is an effective intermediate step. The Accessport TMIC OTS maps are calibrated for this upgraded core.
